[Post-MDCOPS] HB 667

We are asking for everyone’s support with regards to House Bill 667 - Criminal Law - Manslaughter by Vehicle or Vessel - Criminal Negligence.  To view the bill, please go to http://mlis.state.md.us/2008rs/bills/hb/hb0667f.pdf.

 

In June of 2007 Howard County Police Department Corporal Scott Wheeler lost his life after being struck by a woman who was speeding and failed to respond to the direction of Corporal Wheeler.  Under the current MD law, the driver was not found guilty of manslaughter and was only issued citations.  HB 667 would change this and give a fine and jail time to someone who kills due to reckless and negligent driving.

 

We are asking for everyone to write an email or letter to the representatives of the members of the Judiciary Committee asking for their support for HB 667.
