SUMMARY:C.O.P.S. Kids Camp
DESCRIPTION:Kids Camp is planned for surviving children (6-14 years of age) and their parent or legal guardian of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty\, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria.  Children MUST be accompanied by a parent\, legal guardian\, or authorized chaperone (with written consent) to attend. \nhttps://www.concernsofpolicesurvivors.org/kidscamp  (Registration Ends June 13th) \nYour only expense is your travel to and from the Milwaukee Airport if you are flying. Or\, to and from the Salvation Army Wonderland Camp & Conference Center\, if you are driving. If flying\, buses will be available to pick up attendees from the airport on the scheduled arrival day and back on departure day.  All lodging\, meals and activities are provided at no cost. If you fail to cancel your attendance and you do not show up for the camp\, you could be subject to a participation fee for the following year’s camp. \nKids Camp invites families to step away from the hustle of daily life and connect in a fun environment. For young children suffering the loss of a parent\, finding a safe space to express their feelings and relate to your children can be challenging. This camp not only provides that safe environment but also offers a supportive atmosphere for parents and guardians to share their challenges and experiences of helping their child(ren) through their grief journey. \nChild campers will engage in age-appropriate grief counseling sessions tailored to their unique needs\, guided by licensed mental health professionals who will equip them with valuable tools for navigating their emotions at home. Adult campers are required to attend their group counseling sessions designed to equip them with tools to support themselves and their children. \nChild campers will be grouped in cabins based on their age\, with each cabin having a mentor(s) who is either a law enforcement officer or an adult child survivor. Adult campers will stay in nearby cabins\, just a short walk from the children’s cabins. Campers will also have the chance to sign up for exciting activities\, all within a structured setting that promotes relationship building. By the end of the week\, we aspire for every camper to walk away with a deeper sense of personal growth and a network of peers who truly understand their journey. It’s also been a very special week that I get to spend with my son. We’ve made so many memories over the years that he and I both will cherish forever. We are very grateful for Kids Camp.”  \n\n
